Ubernote – a new free tool

August 28, 2008

I have started to try a new tool Ubernote .

The main features:

  • saving selected Web information (clips or bookmarks),
  • type notes or send them by email to Ubernote,
  • sharing with your friends (choose whether they edit or simply read)
  • add notes to UberNote using your mobile phone.

The tool has a nice and easy to use interface.
Other nice feature – I use the tool using slow internet in the village. It is faster than Google Note or some other but slower than Evernote.

You can sort notes by different ways. You need carefully add tags to notes as there is no files and you can find  and reuse your notes only by sorting and browsing, by searching, by selecting tags, by selecting marked important notes.
It would be useful if a few importance levels would be used.

A short info about tool developers.

UberNote is the work of a few Penn State University graduates who have been building software for the past 10 years across many industries.

Wired-Marker – an useful Firefox extension

August 6, 2008

Japanese have developed an interesting Firefox extension Wired-Marker.
It is very useful for me as it operates using slow internet ( I use such in the village).

Wired-Marker is a permanent (indelible) highlighter that you use on Web pages. The highlighter, which comes in various colors and styles, is a kind of electronic bookmark that serves as a guide when you revisit a Web page. The highlighted content is automatically recorded in a bookmark and saved. To use Wired-Marker, you simply drag and drop the selected sections into a bookmark folder. You can highlight not only text but also pictures, tables, and selected portions of the screen. You can even add notes to the highlighted items.”

Main features:

  • Use as an “indelible highlighter” on Web pages

    Use as an electronic bookmark
    Use as a scrapbook folder
Use as a structural organization tool for information
Other useful functions (export, template creation, image capture, etc)

Easy-to-use Web clipping tool “ClipClip”

July 22, 2008

Today I have started to try very simple and easy to use Web clipping tool ClipClip.

You need to drag and drop only two buttons to your toolbar:

  • clipclip button
  • My Clip.

When you select part of web page to save you click the first button “clipclip button”

When you want to see your saved clips you click “My clips” button.

Before saving a clip you add tags (may consists of a few words), edit title of the clip (if you need) and add you short comment (note) about the clip.

As the tool lacks folders you need to carefully select the right tags to re-use your clips.

Other options – create a new group and save you clips to an appropriate group.

Before creating a new group you should check if such a group is absent.

You can select to join a group of your interest as well

and search clips of other members.

You can save your clip as a private one or as a public one.
